MAVERICKS EDGE OUT GRIZZLIES

The U16s Grizzlies travelled up to play the Mersey Mavericks Silver in the 3rd game of their NBL season.  The game began at blistering pace with both teams popping baskets from distance but it was the Mavericks that were able to keep ahead, being more clinical on layups and rebounds.  The Grizzlies pushed the Mavs all the way, able to close the gap in the 2nd half to bring the score to within 4 points, but in a game of fine margins in taking chances it was the Mavs that came away with the 60-53 win.

Grizzlies showed once again some class play against another good team, and plenty of learnings to take away.

Coach Dave said; “We showed in this game we can compete with the best, but the difference today was that final execution in front of the basket.  We played some great basketball and looked dangerous throughout, but just didn’t quite take enough chances to get ahead.”

Final Score: 60-53

MVP: Josh Leah

MVP went to Josh Leah who played a great game throughout.
