Juniors

We at the Grizzlies run multiple sessions across the age ranges that aim to get youngsters involved with the sport of basketball, discover how fun the sport is to play and also to develop them into the future star athletes they all have the potential to be. We believe in building solid foundations for all, both on and of the court, whilst encouraging resilience, creativity and self motivation.  We hope that you enjoy visiting the club, support what we are aiming to achieve and most of all, feel a part of the grizzlies family.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ages can join the practice sessions?

Any! We have had young athletes as young as SIX join us, and we cater for ages all the way up until Senior level. Check the sessions above to see which session your child falls under and just turn up on the day for your first session!

How do I pay for the sessions?

At the club, we have a try before you buy policy. Your first session is always free, so you can see what the sessions are like, check out the venue and meet the coaches. We believe you get a real sense of the club after 4 sessions however, so we also allow every newcomer to try out 4 sessions before requiring a membership. Your first session is free, however sessions 2, 3 and 4 are all paid for using GymCatch, our booking in system.

What is GymCatch?

GymCatch is our booking in system. It controls our sessions, registers and online payments. It allows us as a club to run multiple venues at once without the need to collect any cash. Simply download the app, create and account, link your payment method and search for Congleton Grizzlies! Four easy steps and you are well on your way to being a pro!

How much is the membership?

Our club membership for this season is £25 for the year. The basketball year runs from September 1st 2023 until July 31st 2024. If you are registering after Christmas in 2023, the price drops to a half-season membership of just £15. These are one-off payments to join the club as a member, and covers your insurance with the club, grants you a vote in any club staff elections and also gains you entry to our Annual General Meeting and awards night that takes place at the end of the season!

What do I need to bring?

For your first session, you only need to wear correct attire for sporting activity and ensure you bring a water bottle. The club provides the balls and the bibs in the sessions.

I've noticed other children with kits, how do I get one?

As it stands, the reversible kits are no longer for sale as we obtained this via an old manufacturing sponsor. We are working with a new company from this season called SixthMan, who do offer many items related to the club, however the game kits are not for sale for our junior members.

What about competitive teams?

We as a club aim to provide competition for all ages and abilties within our sessions, that leads to competition in leagues and official fixtures. However, there are a number of contraints that impact these goals.

As it stands, we have two teams at the u14 level, and one u16. Contact your session coach to find out more about these teams.
