CHESHIRE WIRE VS GRIZZLIES

The Grizzliss travelled up the M6 to Warrington to take on Cheshire Wire in a somewhat local derby fixture, with the Grizzlies having beat the Wire earlier in the season at home by only 2 points.

The first quarter started great for the Grizzlies, with a high tempo and great defence causing the Wire issues, not allowing them to settle into the game. However the Grizzlies were wasting opprtunities given to them, menaing they ended the 1st quarter narrowly up 16-10.

The second quarter was a tale of runs, with the Grizzlies extending their lead to 12, before a timeout and good pressire from the Wire caused issues for the beartown natives, allowing them to pull the score back, entering half time only down 4.

The third quarter was where the Grizzlies shone, getting to the basket at will, taking good shots and playing stellar defence to really throttle the Wires offence, with the Wire needing some ket three pointers to stay within distance of the Grizzlies.

With one quarter left to play, the Grizzlies and the Wire traded blows to try and control the game, with the Grizzlies leading by 6 going into the final 2 minutes. The Wire players pressed full court, and with time running out used tactical fouling to send the Grizzlies to the foul line, which has proved an issue for the team this season. The Grizzlies missed some free throws and the Wire coverted some shots to pull within 2 with 30 seconds left, but some great defence by the Grizzlies and a key layup and free throw by Reuben Murphy meant the Grizzlies took the win by 5. Final score 62-57 to the Grizzlies.
