The Grizzlies U16s signed off their NBL season with their 3rd win in a row by beating Mersey Mavericks 75-61.
The team put in one of their best performances of the season - being defensively sound, vocal throughout and taking their chances - hitting several shots from range to help rack up a superb score in what was an excellent game.
Q1 saw the Grizzlies open up a 5pt lead with Jo dominating under the basket to score four baskets, before the team hit their stride fully in Q2 with a string of baskets including four 3-point shots from Rohan, Cruz and Olly, to extend their lead to 18pts by half time.
The Mavericks pushed the Grizzlies all the way, though, coming back into the game in Q3 to close the gap back down to 5pts, but this just spurred the Grizzlies on and a strong Q4 saw the Grizzlies hit further baskets - four each from Sam and Olly, to grab the 14pt win.
MVP was awarded to to the whole team and Coach Ryan Anderson was delighted with the team’s overall performance; “What a game! We began the game playing with high intensity and it paid off, we were electric in the first half. We showed a lot of character to hold off a comeback, and the whole squad contributed to a superb win to end what has been a great first season at National League level the club can be very proud of.”
