The Grizzlies hosted Cheshire Phoenix Blue in their final NBL game of 2024.
It was another fast paced game, and the Grizzlies ended Q1 well in the game with just 2pts separating the teams, with Cruz grabbing 2 of the 4 baskets scored.
Grizzlies centre Jo grabbed a couple of trademark baskets in Q2, but a string of baskets from Phoenix saw them go into half time with a lead of 14pts, at 16-30.
The Grizzlies started Q3 brightly with Lennon grabbing two baskets, with further points from Jo, Judah & Josh, but the Phoenix continued to cause damage themselves and went into the final quarter with a strong lead of 23pts.
The Grizzlies put on a strong show in the final quarter, with both Cruz and Lennon grabbing two further baskets a piece amongst other points, but the Phoenix continued to get joy themselves to grab a further 21pts themselves to take the win with a final score of 38-70.
Coach Ryan Anderson reflected on the performance; "We didn't quite hit the levels needed today against a good side. Its been a busy schedule and we're nursing a few injuries in the squad which doesn't help, but we kept going right to the end which was pleasing to see. As always, we learn from defeats as much as wins and we'll go again next game,"
Next up for the U16s in the NBL is a trip to Cheshire Wire on the 5th January 2025.
MVP: Lennon Gardner
Lennon was the standout Grizzly, with some excellent passing decisions, leadership, and laser-sighted shooting to grab 8pts in the game.
