The Grizzlies U17s squad took on Stafford Spartans, this time in the Quarter Finals of the league’s end-of-season knockout competition. Despite the result going against the Grizzlies, they qualify for the Semi Finals as the wildcard entry.
It was another game that started at a good pace, and it was Stafford who took an early lead with the Grizzlies not quite making their chances count.
However as the game progressed the Grizzlies broke the press well, were strong on rebounds and put Stafford under pressure to quieten the crowd and claw themselves back into the game.
But time was against the Grizzlies in the end as Stafford hit some quick fire baskets to grab the win by 10pts.
However, the 4th team in the competition Semi Finals would be awarded to the losing team that scores the most points - and with 36pts the Grizzlies secured that place to remain in the competition.
The Grizzlies will now face Hanley Hustlers White on Sunday 2nd March for a place in the final.
MVP: Cruz Gomes
MVP was awarded to Cruz Gomes, who pulled the strings for the Grizzlies at point guard and helped hit the baskets to grab the lifeline of the wildcard entry.
