NORTHWOOD VALIANTS VS GRIZZLIES

Published on 5 January 2025 at 01:04

The Grizzlies took on Northwood Valiants on Sunday 5th January, keen to continue their good form & performances in the WGNL over the last run of games.

It was a performance full of true Grizzlies character, with some quality basketball played and some superb baskets scored - but it wasn't to be for the Grizzlies U17s team on Sunday in the WGNL, who saw Northwood Valiants take the 49-31 win.

With a squad of just 5 players, the Grizzlies started slowly but then took the game by the scruff of the neck and staged a strong comeback in the 2nd quarter to pull the game close at HT.

Northwood changed their approach after the break to take advantage of their bigger squad and fatigue crept in for the 5 Grizzlies, and the Valiants took their chances and broke well to secure the win.

Coach Tom Watson said; “It was a performance to be proud of despite defeat, at one point just before half time we looked like we would go on to win.  It is still great experience for the players to take forward into the remainder of the season."

MVP: Max McCleave

MVP was awarded to Max McCleave for another electric performance.
