The Congleton Grizzlies secured their first win of the season with a dominant performance away at Preston, delivering an emphatic 77-24 victory in the under-14s regional game. Led by head coach Tom Watson and assistant coach Lewis Brisco, the Grizzlies controlled the game from start to finish, showcasing the fruits of their hard work in training.
From the opening whistle, the Grizzlies set the tone with an aggressive offense and tight defense, finishing the first quarter up 17-6. Preston struggled to find any rhythm, while the Grizzlies’ teamwork and execution shone through. In the second quarter, Congleton extended their lead further, scoring 18 points and limiting Preston to just 3, taking a commanding 35-9 lead into halftime.
The Grizzlies continued to dominate after the break, scoring 20 points in the third and 22 in the fourth quarter, with Preston managing just 6 and 9 points respectively in those periods. Every aspect of Congleton’s game plan seemed to click, as they overpowered their opponents on both ends of the court.
Head coach Tom Watson was full of praise for his team after the game: “This was a fantastic performance. Everything we’ve been working on in training came together perfectly today. The energy, the effort, and the execution were all there, and I’m really proud of the players for putting it all out on the court.”
