** MATCH REPORT **

Our u14s were at home for the last time this season, welcoming Liverpool BC to Congleton in the North West Regional League. With the boys having two games left to go, and the league title in the balance, all was to play for in this tie!

The first quarter started off slow, with both teams unable to get the ball rolling on the score. With very tough defence being played by both teams, the game started to become tense. Some great blocks by the LBC big man was enough to affect the Grizzlies, and the Grizzlies pressure defence was stifling LBC, resulting in a cagey, yet gripping contest. 1st quarter ends 11-6 to the Grizzlies.

The second quarter was a stark contrast in the game, with the Grizzlies resuming business as usual on the defensive end, causing multiple turnovers by LBC and getting out in transition for easy baskets. Jack Rogers put together the quarter of a lifetime with 9 points and 6 assists to lead the Grizzlies to a dominant quarter. LBC really tried to get a grip of the game, but foul trouble became a huge issue with most of the big players having to take a seat on the bench. Grizzlies lead at the half, 31-11.

With a good half-time talk where the team took account of their own actions, the Grizzlies really took the game to the guests, causing trouble all over the court. Steals, rebounds, drives to the hoop as well as drawing fouls became too much for Liverpool, with a few of their players receiving unsportsmanlike fouls and technical fouls and having to leave the game. This was a huge blow as LBC lost their inside presence on defence just as the Grizzlies got into their flow in a very physical game. Grizzlies won the quarter 26-10, to take an overall lead 58-21.

The fourth quarter saw the Grizzlies younger core take control and bring us home, still ticking the score over and keeping the defensive pressure up. With LBC a few men down, and Congleton running rampant, the game was done and the Grizzlies move to 10-1 on the season, winning comfortably 78-28, final score.

The Grizzlies now look to Saturday and their final game of the season against Northwich, knowing that a win there guarantees the league title. Will the Grizzlies make history?

** MATCH MVP **
Match MVP went to Jack Rogers for his ability to score, create and control the tempo of the game. Flawless game from the point guard!! Congratulations Jack!!
