** MATCH RESULT **

Our u14s took to the floor last night in Game 2 of their NWRL season. This week saw the young Grizzlies welcome Cheshire Wire u14s to Congleton on a late Friday night.

I must say before the game started that Cheshire's uniforms were very nice!!

The boys started off well, jumping out to a 10-2 lead early thanks to their defence and transition offence. Pressure led to forced jump shots from Cheshire, and the Grizzlies were able to push the tempo and get out for easy lay-ups. However, the second unit for the Grizzlies couldn't get going and this allowed the Wire back in to the game. Grizzlies up by 1.

A strong outing for some of the Grizzlies younger players set them up well for the second quarter, but the young guns still failed to find their feet offensively, only maintaining a slight gap over Cheshire, albeit a great first half performance from Cheshire's number 6.

Grizzlies up by 4.

The second half started with some great defence by the Grizzlies, with the lid finally coming off the basket and the defence causing the Wire some real issues. Transition points, followed by offensive rebound after offensive rebound led the Grizzlies to a 19-8 quarter and a huge lead going into the fourth.

Fourth quarter is one for the Wire though. The Cheshire guards dominated the Grizzlies, and we had no answer to stop their drives through the middle. It didn't matter who was guarding them they were scoring at will, but the Grizzlies managed to scrape by with some key baskets and some smart plays to use the clock to seal a 3 point win.

The u14s now sit at 2-0 in the league, with a small break before their next game away from home on the 3rd December.

Good job Grizzlies!!
