Meet our new Chairman!!
Jack’s interest for basketball started when a year group tournament was set up with his school at King’s. Following on from the success of the tournament a club was established at the school and run by no other than Bill Baxter our longest standing coach at Congleton Basketball club. Jack went on to join Congleton basketball club, training in the junior teams and also become one of the youngest players to play for the men’s team at the time. Turning 16 Jack was selected for regional squad Cheshire Jets.
Sir John Deane’s college where Jack attended didn’t have a basketball team so he took it upon himself to establish one and enter them into a Cheshire Colleges League.
Jack moved up to the North East for university where he played in a number of teams representing the university for their second team and for 2 of the 3 years he was there being the Society’s President.
After graduating the degree of Sports Coaching at the University Jack took his coaching ability abroad to the USA and St Lucia. Coaching all ages and abilities for a 3 months over the summer seasons but Congleton has always been his home club and in his still forever growing career as a player and coach, adding the title of Chairman makes him very excited for the future of newly reformed Congleton Grizzlies Basketball Club.
We hope you will all join us in congratulating Jack on being nominated to the role, and wish him luck taking the club forward. LETS GO GRIZZLIES!!
