This week saw the first game played by our next-generation of Grizzlies as our U12s played a friendly game at Macc Town Raiders!
With our U14s and U16s teams having a break before their playoffs campaigns resume this weekend, it was our U12's turn to take centre stage.
We are looking to enter a U12 team in the North-West Regional League next season for the first time, so this was the perfect preparation against a well-established opponent in Macc Town Raiders.
The game was played at a great pace by both teams with some excellent teamwork. It was the Raiders who took a hold of the game, taking a healthy lead into half time. The Grizzlies then staged a spirited fightback in the final quarter, scoring 12 points in the final quarter alone, to close the gap. The final buzzer sounded with the final score 18-50 as Macc Town took the win.
Coach Leam Wright was incredibly proud of the team after the game;
“We’re a club that is open to all young people of all abilities and experience, to come and play, learn new skills, and enjoy playing basketball. We were keen to give the players some match experience – and they were equally as keen! Playing against other local teams is perfect and we’re incredibly proud of them all for their performance.”
