The Grizzlies welcomed Manchester Giants Blue to Congleton on Sunday 10th November in game 5 of their NBL season.
Before the game, the two teams came together to impeccably observe a one minute silence on Remembrance Day.
The Grizzlies began the game strongly against a young but very talented Giants team, with the Grizzlies #20 Judah Hunter scoring 7 trademark baskets to fire the Grizzlies into a 19-14 lead at the end of Q1.
However the Giants were dangerous throughout, both from range and inside the key, and a switch to a high press in Q2 saw them hit the Grizzlies with a flurry of baskets, including 4 more 3-pointers to storm back into a 26-45 lead at HT.
But in the 2nd half, the Grizzlies showed their quality once again, with some great team play gaining them 23 points against the Giant's 12 to draw the game back to within 8 points at 49-57.
Despite a final push in Q4 from the Grizzlies with some more great play under the basket, the Giants did enough to hold on to the lead, taking the 61-67 win.
Coach Ryan Anderson said; “I’m really proud of the team, we played superbly for the majority of the game today, winning 3 of the 4 quarters. They were a danger shooting from distance all game so credit to them doing the damage in the second quarter. We just ran out of time to claw it back, despite controlling the game in the second half, hitting our baskets and giving it a real go.”
