Congleton Grizzlies under 12’s took on Cheshire wire in their first home game of the season.
Cheshire wire got off to a very quick start scoring a succession of points without the Grizzlies being able to put a point on the board. The Grizzlies morale took a beating and the first quarter ended with the Grizzles down 29 to 4.
Cheshire wire came out very strong in the second quarter playing high pressure basketball, not letting the Grizzles find any rhythm and the half ended with the Grizzles down 54 to 7.
The Grizzles regrouped at half time and came out in the third quarter playing much better. Unfortunately Cheshire wire were too strong and the quarter ended 75-17.
The fourth quarter saw some great offensive and defensive plays from the Grizzles but there was no way back from the deficit.
The boys never gave up and showed great heart throughout the game but struggled against a bigger stronger team, the final score saw them down 104 to 24.
Defeat is never easy but the game showed the team what needs to be worked on for next time and the Grizzles will come back stronger than before.
